Hello Parents, Now that I am somewhat caught up on my energy depletion from the trip, I must say, the festival was an absolute awesome experience for everyone! The festival was definitely first-class and well organized! I would like to thank each of the OYC singers for their politeness to the festival staff, their promptness with getting to meals and the buses and their ability to get along with each other. There were no discipline problems of any kind and it was a pleasure to have each singer on the trip. I am sure each chaperone would agree with me. Thank you sharing your child with us and for allowing them this once-in- a lifetime- experience. If you haven’t visited the website, please do so very soon. The photos have been updated and they are awesome! (pacrimfestival.org) For those who missed the Friday deadline, please get the choir uniform and Hawaii music to me ASAP. If I am not a home, you can leave it on my front porch—please just indicate which singer so I may check them off. Cindy and I would like to have a get-together in August for singers and families so that we may all share photos and stories. I will get back to you with a time/day. Thanks! Valerie PICCFEST 2004 "The Olympia Youth Chorus took on our first Major Children's Choral festival in 2004, with a trip to PICCFEST." Hello all OYC singers/parents, I just wanted to let everyone know that we have returned with the 24 OYC singers from the week-long Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival in Eugene , OR . What a fantastic experience for our choristers (and a fun opportunity for us chaperones)!! We had a wonderful week of performing in beautiful venues (with orchestra!), bonding with new friends from around the country, living in a university dorm, and learning about vocal technique under the guidance of the guest conductor. The train transportation was fun as well! You will be able to hear more about the chorister’s trip in the fall. This will be my last choir communication until OYC picks up again in the fall. Have a wonderful summer…. And keep singing! Valerie Fluetsch |
