Nadine has been directing with OYC for 10 years, and is thrilled and honored to have accepted the position of artistic director this year. After graduating in 2009, she began teaching in the Olympia School District, where she taught choir and general music for 9 years. In 2019, she started Sweet Francis Sewing Co, and left the classroom to pursue her business full time. Nadine is an active member of NAfME and ACDA, and still finds her way to the music classroom by providing workshops and clinics to local music teachers, adjudicating for local choir festivals, and accompanying. An OYC alum, Nadine is passionate about sharing her love of music with young singers and musicians!
Lorraine is a former K-12 music educator and school district music coordinator with 19 years of service in public schools. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education/Music and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration/Music from Pacific Lutheran University. Her post graduate study included a fifth year program at Oxford and a practicum in an English primary school. Lorraine is a past member of PLU Choral Union and toured with this ensemble in England, France, Iceland and Scandinavia. She is an active volunteer in a number of non-profit organizations in Thurston County and enjoys giving back to the community through service. Lorraine and her husband have five grown children and eight grandchildren.
Michelle has lived in the Olympia area all of her life. She is a graduate of Tumwater High School and studied at Pierce College in Steilacoom, WA. Michelle is currently the Office Manager for Sloan Family Chiropractic in downtown Olympia and began as a Parent Volunteer with the Olympia Youth Chorus back in 2009 when her daughter joined OYC. She enjoys working with OYC families and outfitting all of our OYC singers! Michelle currently resides in Tenino with her husband Robert, son Wayne, and daughter Sahara.
